SHABBAT UNPLUGGED – Weekend of March 3-4, 2017

Join Southern Maine’s Jewish community for Shabbat Unplugged, a special weekend of activities for all ages promoting connectedness and community, as part of the National Day of Unplugging.

 

Events are free.  All are welcome!

Donations to the JCA to support community programs are greatly appreciated.

FIRST FRIDAY ARTWALK

Maine Jewish Museum - 267 Congress Street, Portland

Visit the Maine Jewish Museum's current exhibits as part of First Friday ArtWalk and Shabbat Unplugged.

 

SHABBAT POTLUCK DINNER

Congregation Bet Ha’am - 81 Westbrook Street, South Portland

6:30 - 7:30 PM

Congregation Bet Ha'am and the Jewish Community Alliance invite you to participate in a special dairy/vegetarian community potluck celebrating Shabbat Unplugged. Dinner will include a brief discussion of the meaning of unplugging, connectedness, and community, and precedes Friday night services which start at 7:30 PM. Saturday, March 4

SHABBAT UNPLUGGED ACTIVITIES

Temple Beth El - 400 Deering Avenue,  Portland

4:00 - 6:30 PM

 

Hosted by Temple Beth El, Shaarey Tphiloh, Levey Day School, Jewish Girl Scout Troop 1433, and the JCA.

 

· Board and card games  (Bring your favorite Shabbat-friendly games; no writing or electronics)

· 4:15 - 5 PM:  Gentle Yoga with Barbara Merson (Executive Director of the Maine Jewish  Film Festival)

· 5:15 - 5:45 PM: Story time with PJ Library

· Playground time (weather-permitting)

· Drama skits with Levey Day School & Jewish Girl Scouts

· Snacks and treats

· Community Havdalah ceremony at 6:24 PM (marking the end of the Sabbath)
