On Rosh Hashannah, 1941, Nazi troops and Polish collaborators murdered 4,500 Jews from the shtetl of Eishyshok, Lithuania and nearby villages. In this program, presented by TBE member Ed Shultz, we will view a PBS documentary showing survivors of that massacre describing what happened, as they return to Eishyshok for the first time since 1941.
We will begin by learning how a photograph discovered at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., led to an invitation for Ed and his sister, Phyllis, to accompany the PBS film crew to Lithuania. The people you will see and the stories they have to tell are amazing and not to be forgotten.
