Wellness and fitness offerings at the JCA are designed to meet you where you are, creating convenient opportunities to recharge, rejuvenate and reconnect to your goals. 

 

 

FITNESS CLASSES & PROGRAMS
$10 for JCA members 
$12 for the general public
Classes will be held in the JCA Library or Sam L. Cohen Community Hall at the JCA. Please check in with the front desk to verify room. See our calendar at www.mainejewish.org for class cancellations and holiday closures.
 
FREE FITNESS CLASSES - Week of Sept. 5-8, 2017
Check out our new fitness offerings with free yoga, bootcamp and Budo classes the week of September 5 – 8, and a free session of Oula Dance on Tuesday morning, Sept. 12th!  Please sign in at the JCA front desk for these free classes.
 
 
Mindful Flow Yoga
With Ashley Schmid of Ashley Flowers Yoga, RYT200
• Tuesdays, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
• Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:30 PM
Dates:  Weekly, starting Tuesday, Sept. 5th
Bend, balance and breathe with a mixture of vinyasa, hatha, and yin. Enjoy an hour of mindful movement as we flow through yoga postures and breathing exercises. You should expect to leave this class feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. 
 
Sun Salutation Yoga
With Ashley Flowers, RYT200
Wednesdays, 7:45 – 8:30 AM
Weekly through the fall, starting Wednesday, Sept. 6th
Stoke your inner fire with a fast-paced morning yoga class. This 45 minute practice will begin with a half-hour of sun salutations followed by 15 minutes of stretching and savasana. You should expect to leave this classes feeling upbeat and invigorated. 
 
Fluid Budō  - Body Mechanics & Movement
With Michael Schwartz
• Tuesdays, 12:30 – 1:30 PM
• Thursdays, 8:45 – 9:30 AM
Weekly through the fall, starting Tuesday, Sept. 5th
This class blends concepts from pilates, aikido, taijiquan, capoeira, and yoga. We will develop locomotion patterns that can be used to injury-proof your body, assist with physical rehabilitation, improve your cognitive flexibility, enhance your functional strength, and improve your overall movement quality.
 
Bootcamp
With Michael Schwartz
• Tuesdays, 5:30 – 6:30 PM
• Thursdays, 7:45 – 8:30 AM
Weekly through the fall, starting Tuesday, Sept. 5th
This intense interval workout is designed to enhance speed, agility, quickness, endurance, power, functional range of motion, and cardiovascular conditioning. We will move seamlessly from one exercise and drill to another, recreating the psychological and physiological feel of athletic competition. Every movement can be modified and adjusted to suit all fitness levels.
 
Oula - Dancemania for the Soul
With Karli Efron
Tuesdays, 7:45 – 8:30 AM
Weekly through the fall, starting Tuesday, Sept. 12th
*No Oula class on 10/24, 11/7, 11/14 or 12/26.
Oula is a high energy, calorie burning, crazy-fun dance workout to Top 40 hits. Classes are one epic hour of sweat, joy, and total inspiration. Oula is “dancemania” for the soul! For a preview of Oula Dance, visit: https://www.oulafitness.com/about/
 
Adult Pick Up Basketball – Open hours
Monthly, Sundays, 3 – 5 pm. See JCA website calendar for specific dates.

Open to JCA members ages 18+ and their guests. Members – free. Guests - $5/person.
Waiver signature required at front desk.
