Congregation Shaarey Tphiloh is the oldest mainline Orthodox synagogue north of Boston.  We were founded in 1904 on Newberry Street in Portland and moved to our present location on Noyes Street in 1954.

 

We are an open, warm, caring community with members who are both old and young.   We are both learning and learned and are particularly mindful of the Jewish value of hachnassat orchim, the welcoming of guests.  We look forward to meeting you!

 

Please join us for services or let us know if you need an occasional weekday minyan to observe a yarzheit and we will accommodate you as possible.

 

We recently began our summer hours for Shabbat observance:

 

Kaballat Shabbat Services:  Fridays at 7:15 PM
 
Shabbat Shacharit: Saturday at 9:00 AM followed by a community Kiddush
 

Please join us for our First Shabbat Seudah Shlishi program, an afternoon of learning and noshing on the first Shabbat of every calendar month.  Please contact the office for times, as they will vary by week.

MIKVEH

Congregation Shaarey Tphiloh houses Maine’s only mikveh.  Please call the office to make the necessary arrangements for its use.
