Toddler Room

Bunnies! Bunnies! Bunnies! We are certain that you have heard we will be getting a classroom bunny next week. Gathering time has been spent talking about ways to care for the bunny and brainstorming a name for our future pet. While we have quite the list of possible names we feel that we have to see it to make our final decision. If that wasn't enough excitement this week, imagine when we told your children we would be able to go for buggy walks! The smile on our toddler friends' faces were priceless. They were all eager to strap in and get back to exploring our neighborhood. This was a great alternative to getting some fresh air while avoiding our very slippery playground.

Nursery

This week friends had the opportunity to work their fine motor skills and bead some beautiful necklaces and bracelets. Using beads of various shapes and sizes they were able to use their creativity and made beautiful pieces that they took home or shared with friends. Another fun activity done by most of the class was snow exploration. The new snow on the playground allowed us to bring some of it into the classroom in bins. Friends used eye droppers and liquid watercolors to "paint" the snow. It was an activity that promoted more fine motor strengthening as well creative art. Some friends asked to bring their snow home, but then realized what would happen! The snow was such a huge hit that we are planning to fill our sensory bin up with some soon!

Pre-k

Our large group time this week was a lot of fun as well. We revisited some favorite songs: Bean Bag Boogie (extended mix) and Fast Monkey. We also spent two days on literacy based games. At first each small group was responsible for gathering all the letters of the alphabet, hidden throughout the classroom, and then had to work together to put them in the right order. The next day we upped the ante, challenging children to crawl through a tunnel, retrieve a letter out of a bucket using a a spoon or tongs, and then traverse a balance beam without dropping it. We also played telephone and cooled down with stretches and breath work.

10 Little Snowballs

Snow fell last night and it fell so hard, when I looked out my window, it covered up my yard.
I made 10 little snowballs and I put them in a line. One fell off the wall, and then there were 9.
9 little snowballs, I put them on the gate. 1 fell off and then there were 8.
8 little snowballs, I hit 1 up towards heaven. It came down splat! And then there were 7.
7 little snowballs, I hit 1 with a stick. It broke in little pieces and then there were 6.
6 little snowballs, all lined up side by side. My dog stole 1 and then there were 5.
5 little snowballs, I took them to the store. 1 fell off my sled, so then there were 4.
4 little snowballs, underneath a tree. I threw 1 at a monster, then there were 3.
3 little snowballs, I'll share them with you. You have 1 and I have 2.
2 little snowballs, left out in the sun. 1 melted away and then there was 1.
1 little snowball left all alone. I'll put it in my pocket and take it home.
